Health Alert – U.S. Embassy Skopje, North Macedonia (April 6, 2020)

Event: NEW: The Government of North Macedonia has implemented an expanded curfew in the municipality of Kumanovo, including the city of Kumanovo and the surrounding villages, to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Monday through Friday the curfew is in effect from 4 p.m. until 5 a.m. There is a complete ban on movement outside the home in the municipality of Kumanovo on Saturdays and Sundays. Within the villages, agricultural related activity is exempted from the curfew. Public transportation to and from the city of Kumanovo, as well as within Kumanovo, remains restricted.
REMINDER: The Government of North Macedonia has implemented a nationwide curfew to reduce the spread of COVID-19. On Saturdays and Sundays the curfew is in effect from 4 p.m. to 5 a.m. On Mondays through Fridays the curfew is in effect from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Additionally, individuals over age 67 are permitted to be outside their homes or places of temporary residence between the hours of 5 a.m. and 11 a.m. only. Individuals under age 18 are permitted to be outside their homes or places of temporary residence between the hours of 12 p.m. and 9 p.m. on weekdays and 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. on weekends.

The State Department issued a Level 4 Global Health Advisoryon March 19, 2020, recommending U.S. citizens avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19 or prepare to remain abroad for an indefinite period.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 3 Global Travel Alert to avoid nonessential travel due to coronavirus.

- Monitor local media and visit the websites of the Government of North Macedonia or Ministry of Health for updated information, including mandatory quarantine measures and travel restrictions which may be implemented with little or no notice.

North Macedonia’s Institute of Public Health has provided contact numbers along with other advice for travelers on their website.
