This fall, the U.S. Embassy’s Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) delivered winter clothing, rain coats, winter shoes, food and hygiene parcels, and more than 10,000 liters of bottled water for the Red Cross of North Macedonia to distribute at the migrant transit centers in Gevgelija and Tabanovce. In total, the ODC donated $30,000 in humanitarian assistance to the Red Cross to support the Red Cross and Government of North Macedonia efforts to care for migrants transiting the country. The U.S. Department of Defense funded this project to help meet the essential needs of migrants during the coming winter season. In December, the ODC expects to deliver a $500,000 excess property package to the Red Cross to help the transit centers care for the migrants throughout the winter season.
