The Mayor of Kisela Voda Municipality, Biljana BelicanecAleksic (L); Chief of the Office of Defense Cooperation(ODC), U.S. Embassy, Major Jeff Van Sickle; and the Director of Kuzman Sapkarev Primary School, Vesna Nastoska (R) cut the ceremonial ribbon during a dedication ceremony on 11 March. The school opening marked the first of eight school openings scheduled for spring 2015 as part of USAID’s Interethnic Integration in Education Program (IIEP). IIEP is a 4-year, $5.2 million initiative to build awareness and provide diversity training, technical assistance, and incentives to school boards, principals, teachers and administration officials in support of interethnic integration in education. United States European Command (EUCOM) through the Embassy’s ODC, provides funding for renovations to the school building to support the USAID initiative. The Kuzman Sapkarev school is partnered with the Naim Frasheri Primary School in Studenicani.
