Delegation of U.S. House of Representatives Visits Macedonia, May 11, 2017

A delegation of Representatives from the United States Congress visited Macedonia May 11 as part of a regional visit to discuss a variety of issues, including the Balkan region’s democratic political climate and economic growth.  The bi-partisan delegation, led by Representative Bob Goodlatte, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, met with Speaker of Parliament Talat Xhaferi, members of Parliament, and Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva.  In addition, the delegation met Minister of Defense Zoran Jolevski and Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Poposki, and reviewed U.S. funded equipment with the Military Police Battalion at the Ilinden Barracks.  During their meetings, the delegation discussed strengthening the rule of law in Macedonia, military cooperation, and the government formation process.
